Thinking Time Reflective Supervision Example Agreement
All supervision should:
- Involve a two-way relationship between supervisor and supervisee
- Ensure accountability for role, responsibilities and work undertaken
- Be based on the principle of high support and high challenge
- Be open and honest
- Be restorative in nature
The Supervisor will:
- Encourage and facilitate the development of an effective relationship between the supervisee and the supervisor
- Use recognised supervision models including adaptations of the work of Carroll, Heron, Hawkins and Shohet, Inskipp & Proctor, Kolb, Morrison, Page & Wosket, Sturt and Rowe
- Offer high support and high challenge, where appropriate
- Identify a range of options for the supervisee to consider
- Intervene when there is a risk to welfare of supervisee, child or young person
- Monitor adherence to ethical guidelines and professional standards
- Encourage on-going development opportunities
The Supervisee will:
- Be open and contribute to the development of an effective working relationship between themselves and the supervisor
- Discuss safeguarding caseload, safeguarding concerns and working practices
- Prepare for supervision
- Demonstrate that they have integrated their thinking in supervision into their working practice
- Be willing to explore other perspectives
- Consult their supervisor in cases of emergency
- Maintain commitment to learning opportunities
